REVIEW OF SOKOTO STATE 2019 YOUTH AGENDA
Over 60 Sokoto youth organisations including youth stakeholders came together in 2019 to develop a youth agenda for youths in Sokoto State.
The objective of the agenda is to serve as an advocacy tool to advocate for critical youth issues in governance. The development of the agenda was led by The Productive Youths Development Initiative (PYDi) in collaboration with Save The Child Initiative (STCi) and National Youth Council of Nigeria, Sokoto State chapter. The developed Sokoto State youth agenda was presented to stakeholders in the State.
We acknowledge significant improvement in youth inclusion in governance by Rt. Honourable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s government from 2019 till date considering increased number of youths appointed as commissioners, special advisers and senior special assistants. For the first in the life of the State a youth was appointed as commissioner to steer the affairs Ministry of Youths and Sports Development. In addition, a Person With Disability has been appointed special adviser on Disable Matters. We are indeed grateful for this feat. However, just like Oliver Twist, we want more youth inclusion and concerted efforts in reducing menace of drug abuse, unemployment and insecurity in the State. We believe government alone cannot do the work. Citizens, especially youths need to participate.
In view of the forthcoming 2023 general elections and change in dynamics, resulted in the need to review the Sokoto State Youth Agenda to capture new realities. We, therefore wish to invite all youth organizations and youth stakeholders to join us as we commence review of the agenda. We call on all stakeholders to join us as we work towards improving the lives of youths in Sokoto State.
Remember, citizens must also engage and contribute their quota towards the development of Sokoto State.
We are working closely with all relevant stakeholders in the review of the agenda.
Kindly fill this form to participate in activities lined up for the review and launching of the youth agenda.
